Course Requirements
Completion of the Drawing Into Painting Course is essential. You are not required to complete the Colour Theory Course to begin this course. However, we recommend taking a paint pigment colour theory to enhance your skills.

Course Description
This course builds upon the skills learnt from the drawing module. Drawing continues to be an essential part of the course, both in graphite and paint. Students learn to paint representationally from life, develop Classical Imprimatura and Alla Prima painting techniques and learn about diffident inspirational master painters. You will complete a series of painting studies that consist of simple 3D shapes, still life, classical casts, everyday household objects and life models.

How to map out your painting
How to analyse and follow the steps to create high-quality paintings
Continued support on how to see, to paint representationally
Tonal value paintings enhance tonal accuracy
Painting with accurate shape, proportion and colour
Working with a limited Zorn Palette
Imprimatura, Chiaroscuro and Alla prima oil painting techniques
Experience sight-sized studies to cultivate a competency for realism.

Who is this course suitable for?
Anyone aged 10 and over
Are any materials included?
No. On your first class the tutor will advice what you need and where to purcahce the correct materials for your budget.
Can I skip this drawing course and go straight to painting?
The Classical Drawing course is an essential. However, if it becomes clear you would benefit from progressing into painting during this course we can switch you over. It is on the same day.
I am an experienced artist, is this course right for me?
If you are looking to be introduced to oil painting, still life, portraiture painting, influenced by the representational and classical art - then yes!
